Marketing Perspectives
Influencer marketing has really taken off in the past few years, and every influencer is different. There are influencers for every niche you can think of. Whether it's makeup, travel, fashion or lifestyle, there are social media influencers present cornering the market. One thing that these social media moguls have in common is how they snag their viewers. A successful influencer is relatable. They share their lives (the good and the bad) with their audience who see these people as a friend.
Another thing that I have noticed about influencer marketing would be that successful influencers only market products and services that they have used and believe in. In the majority of the content produced by an influencer, you will see a disclaimer that says the influencer would never recommend a company they have not used or experienced. This builds trust between the influencer and their audience. No one would follow an influencer that claimed every product and service was spectacular because they would clearly be driven by financial gain and not what's best for their audience.
You will notice that successful influencers respect their audience, listen to feedback, and engage with their followers. Again, this builds trust within the community that they have created. At the end of the day, providing value and nurturing trust with an audience will be lucrative for an influencer. There have been some nasty scandals with influencers who use their audience as a paycheck instead of working to provide value.
Some strategies that influencers use revolve around their content. Not every video or post is about an endorsement. Good influencers never come off as salesy. They do giveaways for their audiences, host meet-ups, and do whatever necessary to build a connection with the individuals that follow them. Other than being relatable and building trust and rapport with their followers, they have to create quality content that brings value to the table.
Influencers play the role of liaison between the company they are endorsing and their audience. Influencers market effectively because they have an established audience that trusts them enough to take their recommendations and reviews to heart. In turn, this builds trust in the relationship between the company and the consumer.
Influencers are beneficial to companies because they have a community and know what they like, in other words, what kind of content speaks to them. Using influencers creates a bridge between the customer and the company by providing custom, impactful marketing to the perfect audience.
